When you are relying on a structure to keep you safe from the elements, or your livelihood depends on your ability to build a strong and durable construction, the last thing you want is for your walls to come down. Parallel walls are essential to creating barriers and protection for a structure. Wind, water, settling foundations, and gravity create natural challenges and resistance to any parallel wall structure. This is where concrete wall ties can be a game-changer.

Read MoreConcrete wall ties, which are sometimes called snap ties, form ties, wall ties or brick ties, are used to create parallel walls while leaving a cavity in between. From the outside view of a structure, you cannot see the concrete wall ties, but these small metal pieces work like thread to hold the walls together, but they also work like a spacer to keep the walls apart.
Discount Contractor Supply is your one stop shop for your wall tie needs.
Concrete wall ties are helpful for four primary reasons.
First, these ties allow for in-plane movement. In-plane movement is movement which occurs between the parallel wall, meaning the movement of the filler. That movement could be between wooden panels, concrete, or even insulation.
Second, concrete wall ties help combat differential movement. Differential movement is the uneven settling of the walls or structures, for example, one side sinks lower or at a faster rate than the other.
Third, simply put, concrete wall ties do the first and second by providing a connection.
Fourth, concrete wall ties transfer weight burdens laterally.
Concrete wall ties come in various shapes, sizes, and constructions. Generally, these ties are made of two parts: (1) the internal tension portion, and (2) the external holding portion.
The concrete wall ties are available in two general styles. There is a continuous single member and the internal disconnecting style. At Discount Contractor Supply we provide a variety of continuous single member ties.
Flat tie – these are thin, flat, steel plates with various anchor holes. These are ideal for prefabricated form panels and light duty use. These are single use and cannot be removed once installed. We provide flat ties in 6, 8 and 10 inches.
Loop tie – a loop tie is a metal bar with loops on each end. These are also used for prefabricated form panels and light duty. Discount Contractor Supply provides loop ties from 8 inches to 24 inches.
Snap tie/Cone tie – is a rod with a set of washers and plastic cones on the rod. These ties are also single and contain a well-made cross section. We provide cone ties in 6 to 42 inches.
Z-Tie and Waler tie – the waler tie is a steel rod with loops on alternating sides and degrees. The waler ties work with z-ties to anchor directly to concrete.
